Workshop “Augmented Reality Applied to Architecture” – Donostia

27/04/2026

BAI will hold the workshop “Augmented Reality Applied to Architecture” from June 8 to 12, 2026, at the School of Architecture of Donostia / San Sebastián. This new activity within the Design–Innovation–Digital Technologies area is aimed at exploring the potential of augmented reality across the different phases of the architectural project. The workshop is open to final-year undergraduate and Master’s students in Architecture and Engineering, young architects and engineers who have already graduated, and students or graduates of higher-level vocational training programs in related fields. Places are limited. The activity is fully funded and has no tuition fee. Registration will remain open until May 15, 2026.

Under the subtitle “From Stone to Hologram,” the workshop proposes a critical and applied approach to augmented reality as a tool for verification, validation, and assembly in architecture. Its learning objectives include understanding gravity and geometric stability through virtual models, mastering VR/AR concepts as pre- and on-site working tools, experimenting with the coordination of complex BIM models on site using AR assistants, and developing a real architectural or museographic commission, spanning the entire process of creation, validation, and assembly guided by augmented reality. The aim, as highlighted in the dossier, is not to be driven by mere technophilic fascination, but to understand these tools in depth in order to place them genuinely at the service of the project.

With this workshop, BAI continues to develop a training model that combines technological innovation, architectural design, applied knowledge, and direct engagement with professional practice.
